Big chub and Barbel Hampshire Avon Opening days 2022 Part 3
Hi, how do you detect bites with the rod submerged?
What a fish,talk about pristine,absolute stunner
Hi Kenny,am wanting to come down to the Avon for a weeks chub and roach fishing, could you recommend a suitable day ticket stretch for me ,o am an old gitcant carry or walk miles like i used to.Anu help greatly appreciated, thanks Cliff😊
Excellent videos Kenny, enjoyable watching those chub in action and feeding
What about groundbait with maggots in? Doesn't it help bring fish into your swim? Thank's
Why didn't you kiss the fish?
Hi Kenny just subscribed, watched a few clubbing vids now, brilliant, trying to catch a 6lb plus, I noticed you seem to be hair rigging for chub what size hook are you using to do this and how long are your hooklinks thankyou
Hi thanks for your question. I'm using size 12 hooks and gluing 2 small pellets onto a hair. There is some footage of how to tie the rigs etc in an earlier video this season. The best hooklinks are about 6ft long. However beware in slow moving current the chub could bite through this.
Love all your videos, great fishing techniques, very informative 👍
Thanks Terry I enjoy making them.
Very nice footage!
Power house of a tench Ken , great video ,lovely venue , well done 👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Kenny, what equipment do you use for getting the underwater footage please?
Hi Damian I use a water tight gopro camera on the end of an old Drennan landing net pole. There are some prongs on the end that goes into the river bed to hold the camera steady. Without this the camera wobble is great even in the lesser areas of flow. Hope that help.
@@KPanglingguide Many thanks Kenny. That makes for some great underwater footage.
Very interesting Kenny and a great bit of filming
Excellent
I notice you fish the same spot for chub. How many of those fish are repeat catches?
Hi Buddy yes and a good point I have had a few recaptures. Often though due to high river conditions and the limited number of swims available to fish. Normally in the summer when I've seen and caught the biggest fish I move on. It's inevitable recaptures do occur. On maggot float fishing it's possible to catch the same fish twice even three times where they get preoccupied.
Hi, Kenny. Discovered your channel today and viewed six videos in a row. Impressive, especially as you're a one-man fishing/documentary maker. I'll soon be moving close to the Avon and Stour and cannot be anymore excited. I've lived closest to the Kennet most of my life and witnessed the river's massive decline. I look forward to introducing my youngest son (my angling apprentice) to Dorsets waters and the abundant fish within. I can't wait to help him land his first barbel and big chub, especially as he's been told my old skool Kennet stories over and over. And if we're fortunate we might even cross paths with you, which would be great. Respect. And a sub, too.
@@iantaylor8148 thanks I enjoy making them. The Avon and Stour hold some big chub at present. Good luck when you fish for them.
Very nice footage 👍
A great watch, the chub fishing in Wessex really is something else and trotting for them is definately the deadliest method in the right swim. If you were formulate enough to locate big roach would you still adopt the big float/boss the swim approach? All the best JJ
Cracking video Kenny thanks for sharing it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Always enjoy watching your videos👍
Can you please tell us where about on river seven did you catch those beautiful zanders
LOVELY to see a roach of that stamp kind regards Mr D
Really really good video. No, really!
All I can say is these tactics certainly do work! Great videos Kenny. All best Daffers
Big roach! I’d be absolutely made up with that.
very nice chub! you catch some awesome fish, if you wouldnt mind me asking which part of the Hampshire Avon is this
Hey fella, great video, looks like a beautiful river, we in suffolk used to have a beautiful river, the gipping, before it was destroyed by the so called " environment agency ", I wouldn't let them loose on a puddle tbh
U are the chubb king !!do u still use the same rig with pellet and superglue and pva bag today be nice to see video of other rigs u use also . Beautiful fish thank you 👍
Yes I do!
@@KPanglingguide i have 16th and 17th of work next week looking forward to trying this rig on the Avon 1.👍
where was this in Canada ?
Correct Harrison and Fraser rivers.
Love this river as you do and a great video, also love the honesty of 9.15. Well done.
Thanks 👍
No small chub, I wonder where they are. On the Ouse we have lots of year classes.
Hi Chris there are plenty of year classes thank goodness. I normally target the larger fish in the summer when stalking them. In the winter trotting for them all different sizes come along. I wish the same could be said about the H. Avon barbel.👍
@@KPanglingguide ditto Ouse barbel. 😥 Thankfully the roach population is coming along real good again.
I wish I could afford your guide service, you obviously know your stuff and seem to have so much fun. Bravo on a wonderful upload.
Thanks for these videos. I do miss fishing Somerley. It's was my favourite venue by far.
kenny what net handle is that please
Drennan twist lock. Brilliant
@@KPanglingguide thanks kenny
Lovely video had my first barbel today, perfect
Well done buddy
These are some cracking fish you’ve had Kenny with Andy also. I generally fish the river Stour at Christchurch rather than the Avon. Tried the Avon a couple of seasons ago near Sopley mill if I recall right but just found it so weedy with streamer weed and really struggled to find some gravel bars but a good day out nonetheless! I’d love to know the location of these swims or is it a closely guarded secret...?!? Looks superb gents :) tight lines.
Sorry for the late reply it's on the middle Avon at Somerley.
Please don't use Super Glue, of any variety, on any baits on any fishery. When ingested by the fish the glue will be a major biological harzard to them and to the fishery in general. Please don't say "Oh but the bait is on the hair and the bait never gets eatne by the fish". The reality, the truth, is that plenty of super glued baits do end up getting eating by the fish either through missed takes or simply coming off the hair. Please be enviromentally responsible and avoid using these kind of chemicals in bait presentation.
What about plastic bait stops? They're hardly any better for fish to swallow. I don't know of any truly environmentally friendly way to fish at all. The whole sport (like most sports) is pretty environmentally unfriendly.
Like all things humans have an impact whatever they do. The Hampshire Avons ecology has been preserved by self interest by riparian owners and anglers alike. It's in their interest to preserve the ecosystem. It would be a running sewer not a pristine habitat if no one gave a toss. You've only got to look at what's happening to the new forest at the moment with visitors dumping rubbish and using it as a toilet. They have tied in interest to the environment. Thankfully some of us as volunteer litter pickers do so, we campaign against these idiots and the authorities who do nothing
I'm an angler and in regards to the super glue comment, We are casting out a baited hook, which sticks inside the fishes mouth and we then pull them out of the water for our own pleasure. I do love and respect every fish I catch, but a little ingested super glue won't kill a fish , it's more likely that the stress of capture will cause death and even that is very unlikely. In addition even when I have lost the pellets on my hair rig there is almost always the superglue and a small amount of pellet still stuck to the hair rig. So the super glue comment is a load of tosh 😎😎😎👍🙂
Cyanoacrylate gel (superglue) is immediately polymerized and becomes completely inert in water once cured, Cyanoacrylate gel is used for sealing skin lacerations in humans and animals and widely used in medical, veterinary and first aid applications. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved its use as a medical adhesive in1998 The United Kingdom's Health and Safety Executive and the United States National Toxicology Program have concluded that the use of cyanoacrylate is safe and that additional study is unnecessary
Brilliant!
Stunning Roach Kenny !!!
Stunner mate !!
Crikey Kenny, that's a clonker
Excellent 👍
Perils of barbel fishing with 2 rods carp style... Get those fish back quicker instead of 30sec plus chats describing them...
Fair point regarding getting them back quickly. Do rest them for a long time before the photos
Dropping the barbel not so clever 😱 . Nice video apart from that
There was a a thick unhooking mat that perhaps you can't see. Dont normally juggle with them. It happens from time to time. Didn't want a retake. Thanks for your comments.
Nice film Kenny, I enjoyed watching it. I wonder if you had your rod angled down low to avoid all that loose weed flowing down from getting on your line? Or did you have some other way of avoiding it?
Another great day on the Wye Kenny, its a great river. You mentioned in Part 1 of this video that you have only ever had one double figure barbel from the Wye. I’ve had many 9s from the river to a best of 9.14 lbs but never a double yet.
I agree with you, the Wye is a cracking barbel River. What a great day you had. I had a disappointing week on the Wye recently, the first three days the river was very, very low and then we had four days of heavy rain. I only had 14 barbel in seven days fishing although my mate did a little better. Judging by the church spire in the background your stretch was not too far from Ross on Wye. Nicely filmed, well done!
Well done Kenny and Andy for sharing some fantastic fishing with us and some awesome fish. 🎣😉
Awesome Kenny what fantastic beasts
Yes Clive what fish. They do pull your arms off. I foul hooked a 8ft and it towed us 1/2 mile downstream
Love it Kenny. Really looking forward to watching the other videos! Bloody big barbel!!
Thanks Paul what a weeks fishing.
Nice video Kenny. Looking forward to a few from the Wye myself next weekend. Have been getting a few from the Thames recently but a trip to the Wye is always fun.
nice one mate cracking video :) stunning barbel too! have a new video myself fishing in Italy on holiday! running a competition this month for a £50 tackle voucher prize to one lucky subscriber.... hope you can check it out!!!
